GO Presents Inaugural Marathon Mash-Up of Design and Do-Goodery

Lancaster, PA—‘Tis the season for giving. Some creative firms have designathons to give back to their communities. Some hold designoramas. GO, the international design unit in downtown Lancaster, believes in going the whole hog. On November 27 and 29, GO will host its first ever Design-O-Rama-Thon, a pro bono marathon design session to benefit not-for-profit organizations in Central Pennsylvania.

Any 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in the Central Pennsylvania region is eligible to participate in GO’s Design-O-Rama-Thon 2007. All design consultation and work will be provided free of charge. The event is organized into two 12-hour sessions. The first session, the Design-O-Rama half, will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 27, and will last from 9am to 9pm. On this day, area nonprofits can schedule a meeting with

GO to discuss their marketing objectives and project ideas. Projects can cover anything design-related but are limited to those that can be completed within a 12-hour timeframe. The real work comes on Thursday, Nov. 29, the Design-A-Thon part, when GO’s creative team and other volunteer graphic designers and writers will roll up their sleeves and bunker down at GO headquarters for 12 straight hours of designing. The intervening time between the Design-O-Rama and the Design-A-Thon, Wednesday, will be spent gathering materials, such as logo files, photography, images, and other content, necessary for the designing to begin on Thursday.

We believe in doing good work,” says Jeronimo Herrera, GO creative director. “And we wanted to do something for those who do good.”

GO, LLC, is a multidisciplinary design unit in downtown Lancaster, PA. The firm has worked locally with the Lancaster Arts Hotel, the AIDS Community Alliance, and L.I.V.E (Lancaster Investment in a Vibrant Economy). Though nothing like Design-O-Rama-Thon has been held in the area recently, similar events take place in other cities around the country. GO is currently looking for sponsors who are willing to donate reduced or pro bono printing services and/or refreshments to keep volunteers perky and percolating with ideas. Contact us to schedule a Design-O-Rama meeting—slots for Nov. 27 are limited and are first come, first served.

International Design Unit Buys Entire Stock of Alarm Clocks in a 3-Mile Radius!

Lancaster, PA—Alarm clocks of all shapes, sizes, and annoying buzzers are now a scarce resource in the greater Lancaster region, as one of Central Pennsylvania’s very own premier international design units, GO, LLC, has decided to pre-emptively strike a blow for the Snooze Button Revolution. The alarm clocks will also benefit in helping the unit's

switchboard task force arrive on time for their new hours of operation, 9:00am to 6:00pm.

“We heard about this thing called breakfast – apparently you’re supposed to eat 3 meals a day. So we checked it out, and it’s pretty good. Eggs, bacon, danish, yum,” said one member of the Unit’s

central committee who asked to remain nameless. “So we figured we’re up anyways, why not answer the phones?” When asked for his thoughts, the Chairman of the Unit would only comment cryptically, “We feel it is important for our clients to start their business day with a smile on the other end of the line.”

Design Unit Marches Onward and Next Door

Lancaster, PA—GO, LLC has broken ground on a new headquarters. Like Sherman marching triumphantly through the South, this international design unit has blazed forward to conquer new territories, to emancipate those chained to old ideas and enslaved within the boxes of tradition, and to claim 25 East Grant Street, Suite 101, for the Union and for President Lincoln.

“We must be always ready to move on. To be lean and mean is the GO way,” says Chairman Lipka.

“When we become entrenched, when we become comfortable, we become complacent. We do not reach. We do not grow. We stand brittle in our ways and the chipping away makes us weary.”

The new headquarters provides an airy, hardwood view of its fellow Queen Street denizens and convenient access to several strategic positions, including Characters Pub and a sushi restaurant. While literally only a hop, skip, and jump from their former location (down the hall, out the door, and around the corner), the

new office space will enable the design unit and their protégés to explore collective creativity beyond the bounds of Lancaster’s three-dimensional consciousness. This new base of operations also features windows that open and a private bathroom that need not be shared with 3 ½ other businesses.

International Design Unit Declares Launch of “Gray Matter”

Lancaster, PA—GO, LLC, headquartered in downtown Lancaster, announced the launch of its new website at http://www.godesignunit.com, yesterday evening at their 2nd annual Rubber Ducky Regatta / Groundhog Gossamer Gala. Dubbed “Gray Matter”, this will be the second incarnation housed at that particular URL and the third version overall.

The re-launched website is the first major project of the international design unit’s new Communications Bureau and the

firm’s most ambitious self-promotion project to date. The sleek new website highlights not only the usual corporate schlock and examples of the unit’s standard works of excellence for previous clients but also focuses on the high standards and philosophy that drive the GO way of life. As one member of the Communications Corps put it, “We definitely juiced it.”

This latest version will be powered by Zipper, a highly functional yet fluid content management system developed by

ZipperCMS, and not yet available to the general public. “We are excited to deepen our friendship with Zipper and hope that many good things will flower from this partnership,” proclaimed Chairman Mark Lipka on an overseas conference call. “We expect many good things in the times ahead.”

GO Looks to Second Front with Opening of Communications Bureau

Lancaster, PA—In a move to outflank their competition, GO, LLC, the international design unit headquartered in Christian St, recently announced the opening of their new Communications Bureau, the first of many. The department will operate under the watchful eyes and creative control of Ms. Nida Setthachayanon, promoted to Executive Director of Verbal Wrangling. Ms. Setthachayanon, who enjoys wearing many hats, will also maintain her current post of Chief Global Solutions Engineer.

The Bureau is dedicated to crafting message, both internal and external, and prosaic pictures to enhance those visual ones produced by its fellow creatives. While young enough in both personnel and operation to exude a perpetual perfume of baby powder and new car smell, the Communications Corps nevertheless provide a plethora of experienced

wordsmithing and organizational planning abilities.

With the formation of a department devoted solely to the written word, this international design unit exhibits their commitment to Total Design, a concept that may be foreign to the traditional design firm. Total Design emphasizes a totalistic method of creative problem-solving, seeking to approach design issues from angles and points of view and to probe the interstitial spaces often overlooked by the more provincial firms. Thus, the end result is pleasing not only to the eye but usually to one or more of the other senses as well. GO claim that they create finished products whereas their competitors merely finish a project.

The newly promoted Director is looking forward to adding the written word to the

cause of Total Design. “This opens up a whole new front for [GO],” states Ms. Setthachayanon. “Pretty pictures need a story behind them, something to engage the narrative portion of the audience’s brains and involve them in the design enough for them to want some type of resolution. They end up buying the product being advertised or looking for the next ad or actively participating in whatever project we’re designing. That’s what we want—to encourage an interactive relationship between the design and the audience.” Ms. Setthachayanon believes that her Communications Bureau will not only inject a fresh perspective in a saturated yet stagnant field but will help release the full creative potential of GO.

“Pretty needs revolution,” she shrugs.
